More About Max Ruthenberg-Marshall
Max founded Porchlight to help her clients have a more peaceful and positive divorce experience. Her practice focuses on uncontested and low to medium conflict cases. The priority in each case is her client’s future wellbeing—not rehashing past hurts through contested litigation.
Porchlight is a client-centered practice. Unlike traditional hourly billing, all our cases are flat fee. The firm works to educate clients on the entire process before starting a case so that the client is in the driver’s seat. This approach reduces conflict in cases because clients have the information they need to make the best decisions.
Max is trained as a mediator and Guardian ad Litem, which provides additional skills and perspective in representing clients. Recent recognitions include Super Lawyer Rising Star 2019, Georgia Trend Legal Elite 2019, and the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys Top 10 Under 40 2019. Max is a member of the Stonewall Bar Association, OUT Georgia Business Alliance, and Georgia Association for Women Lawyers. She also serves on the Atlanta Bar Association’s Wellness Committee, helping lawyers to live happier, healthier lives.
Max grew up in the Washington, DC area and graduated from The George Washington University Law School. She is admitted to practice law in Georgia and California.
When Max is not practicing law, she enjoys swimming and travel. She competes on an adult swim team and participates in Swim Across America, an open-water swim to raise funds for cancer research and treatment. Max travels regularly and has a goal to visit all 50 states by the time she is 50. So far, she has visited 37 states.
