More About Melody Swilling
Melody is honored to be recognized as a Georgia Trend’s 2018 Legal Elite in Family Law selected by her peers. She has been focused solely on family law litigation since 2010 and graduated Florida Coastal Law school in 2008 after attending the University of Georgia for undergraduate studies. After practicing in bankruptcy for two years at a mid-sized law firm in Atlanta, Georgia, Melody wanted to concentrate on helping families in litigation and expanded her practice to family law in 2010. Shortly thereafter, Melody joined a mid-sized law firm concentrating in family law litigation in 2013 and moved her practice to Alpharetta in 2019 to concentrate on more complex family law litigation.
Melody’s years of experience in family law has allowed her to represent a countless Atlanta families, all with unique family needs. She has extensive experience with diverse families including those seeking complex adoptions, helping same-sex couples facing real obstacles under Georgia law, guiding clients through high asset divorce litigation, and handling appeals in the Georgia Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Georgia. This extensive experience has helped her to provide practical and sympathetic guidance that families need to navigate the divorce and custody process. Melody concentrates on practical and realistic advice in preparing for litigation with clients based on her extensive exposure in the North Metro Atlanta counties, tailoring the case approach to the particular client their needs.
As a mother of two young boys, she understands the strains of children and their special needs as her own son has OCD anxiety with sensory processing disorder, requiring interventions and play therapy. When she is not training for her next marathon or cheering her sons on the baseball diamond, you can find Melody actively volunteering with iCanShine to give children with special needs, especially autism, the independence and skill set to ride a bike.
